FELIX FENEON

Novels In Three Lines
- Felix Feneon
What a great little book this is. In his time, it would appear that Mr. Feneon was a remarkable receptor of news--perhaps to a cause greater than what would appear on the surface. Claimed to be the discoverer of Georges Seurat, and the first French publisher of James Joyce.

ANTONY AND THE JOHNSONS
The Crying Light.

2009
Love this cd. love it.
The lead vocalist's voice flutters.
-Sings in a haunting and yet innocent wail.
The cover photo of dancer Kazuo Ohno captures this best--
how I feel when I stub a toe, get a paper cut.

PORTRAIT OF FRANK

Portrait of Frank
2008 Woodblock
I rounded a street corner in Haight-Asbury when I spotted him; a young man selling prints. His set-up was simple--an old metal TV tray propped against the proverbial brick wall. I admired his tenacity. Not only were the decisions that he made in his work exemplary, but I walked away happy that I meet him.

BROWN

I feel fortunate for recently meeting Kevin Brown [right] in his gallery- Live Worms, San Francisco CA. It was a pleasure to speak with similar sensibilities and approach to painting.

JUDITH ANN MORIARTY.

I had a painting instructor tell me not to be afraid to fail. He said that if you are going to make mistakes, make big ones; make them go down in flames. I did. I had a writing instructor who told me the key to writing a convincing argument was to state your ideas clearly she said.

An art critique, just like a plumbing estimate, needs to satisfy a certain amount of criteria before it's ready/understood. Foremost, it's important for the person who is reviewing/estimating to show the how’s and why’s--the bare bones of their argument/bill. It's difficult for words to carry the weight of what one sees, however there are but a few local art critics in Milwaukee who do this well. Here is but one example of a local writer who offers some insight as to her role as an art critic/and advocate.
